Package names and bundle IDs are important identity components. Mixing test and production creates incorrect trust relationships.
Evaluation approach
Separate signing, endpoints, attestation settings and data access for each environment. A visual color change is insufficient.
Application example
A test build should not alter permanent device registration for a production account.
Limits and considerations
Different package names alone do not separate servers or keys.
Detecting the wrong environment
Check final identity, API targets and signing expectations together. A test badge does not enforce separation; the back end must do so.
Checks and decisions
- Map identities
- Separate endpoints
- Test production access
