A presigned URL can grant temporary resource access to whoever holds it. Treat the URL itself as sensitive.
Evaluation approach
Choose a short, justified lifetime. Avoid unnecessary transmission to logs, analytics or link previews.
Application example
Do not paste a complete private-document download URL into a support record.
Limits and considerations
Timed access does not remove the need to authorize the original URL request.
Can analytics leak the URL?
Access parameters can leak through full-URL logging. Review client, server and support masking together; shortening visible text alone is insufficient.
Checks and decisions
- Limit validity
- Mask URLs
- Review sharing paths
